Noel Murray. If you like watching an endless string of prison brawls and pub fights connected by the thinnest of narrative threads, then you'll be in heaven.
Chris Nashawaty. Portraying his most complex character to date, Adkins delivers a ferocious turn that proves visceral in its emotional as well as physical intensity.
Frank Scheck. This is a gritty, mean, down and dirty crime story about gritty, mean, down and dirty criminals. It's also Johnson and Adkins' most ambitious film to date, as well as maybe their best.
Brent McKnight. As usual, Adkins' fighting is great and his acting is, besides the aforementioned hindrances, above decent. This may not be his best work, but it's good nonetheless.
Emilie Black. While Avengement isn't exactly a classic in any regard, it's a step in the right direction for a new breed of British thumpfests that - if Adkins can wield his sensibilities correctly - may just begin to rival their Eastern origins.
Luke Whiston. The "New Jason Statham" Adkins is still great in the fights, not so great in everything else in this static, talky punch-em-up.
