A crossover event that began on "The Flash" concludes with Oliver teaming with the Flash to stop a boomerang-wielding killer who plants five bombs in the city that are set to explode at the same time.

Nyssa returns and tells Oliver that her father, Ra's al Ghul, has given him 48 hours to find Sara's killer or the League of Assassins will start killing the citizens of Starling City.

Meanwhile, Laurel is stunned when her mother visits at Christmas; and Ray tries to make amends with Felicity. The team try to protect the city in the Arrow's absence and fear the worst may have befallen their friend.

But Felicity refuses to believe Oliver could be dead, until Merlyn pays the team a surprise visit. Meanwhile, Ray tests a part of his new suit; and Laurel takes up the mantel of the Black Canary.

View All Arrow: Season 3 News. The result was a gritty season that, while still on the weaker side, featured several of the show's best moments.

Arrow's context heading into its fourth season? Well, it kind of sucked last year, but it built up enough goodwill in its second season for me to continue giving this show the benefit of the doubt.

The show went in some new directions this season that were necessary for Oliver's character I liked that, but I can see how that alienated some fans.

It still had some excellent moments, but it is slipping What a breath of fresh air Routh's Ray Palmer is!

Obviously the character was conceived in no small part as a complement to Emily Bett Rickards' take on Felicity. The Flash is getting all the plaudits right now, but that's the new and shiny and so far, very solid thing.

We've gotten used to Arrow at this point, but in the way where we expect goodness from it. And "The Calm" delivered on that. After the kickoff to Season 3, 'Arrow' firmly establishes itself as the show to beat and perhaps not just on the comic book front.

Arrow knocked it out of the park in season two, but season three already feels like an organic and exciting new chapter in Oliver's heroic journey.

Nun lass ich mich mal von der 3. Alle Rezensionen anzeigen. Another strong season crammed with action, special effects and soul searching.

The tone now is ever more dark. Arrow questions whether he is in fact achieving much. Now averse to killing, he wonders what is the point of trying to rid Starling of its villains "You have failed this city".

When handed over to the authorities, they too often escape to create further mayhem. Early death of one of his Team also adds to his self-doubt, that loss to have repercussions that change everything.

This may all seem profoundly depressing, but such introspection adds depth and there remains much excitement.

Those wanting to see violent deaths will be happy with flashbacks to Hong Kong, where there are plenty. Many lives are also cut short when in the headquarters of the cult of assassins, a remote temple destined to play an important part in Arrow's destiny.

Lightening the mood is a crossover episode featuring The Flash. Also welcome is Brandon Routh as rich genius Ray Palmer.

Can there be another super-hero in the making? Stephen Amell convinces as rugged Oliver Queen, those experiences on the island forever to prey on his mind.

John Barrowman makes his presence felt on return as Malcolm, now showing a more sympathetic side. Or is this just an act, he as treacherous as ever he was?

Over-the-top villains abound, but arguably the more subtle portrayal of Ra's al Ghul makes the most impact. Two commentaries.

Many interesting extras. One concerns the costumes actors feeling "ready to go" immediately they are donned.

Another tells how the Temple set was constructed, creators trying to avoid comparison with the Temple so impressively featured in Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins".

The Comic-Con session is fortunately far more than "you know"s and screeches, many cast on fine form as they answer questions Barrowman, as usual, irrepressible.

Critics no doubt will find much to fault. There's a new big bad guy making life difficult for everybody - this time it's Ra's al Ghul and his League of Assassins.

Loads of faces come and go, some new, some old - nobody stays away or dead for very long on this show. There's plenty of bone crunching smackdowns and flying arrows as always, eventually posing the question of how many crack archers can one city actually have?

The doses of soap opera are still present and correct with romantic entanglements all over the place - some work, some never really have a chance.

The flashback structure for Oliver's missing years is still in place although at times these now feel kind of shoehorned in and maybe even a little redundant but for the most part they're pretty short and sharp so don't outstay their welcome.

It adds up to another strong year I thought, largely taking the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach. Not sure where they're going with it in Season 4 but it'll no doubt be interesting finding out.

In other notes - Brandon Routh joins the cast to have a second crack at a DC superhero and I think he's been pretty decent at both.

Vinnie Jones also pops up for some growling and gurning, I'm not sure why people keep employing this talentless muppet but such is life. We crossover with The Flash a couple of times and The Flash episodes aren't included in this set.

It's not hard to follow but it really is more fun if you're watching both shows. This was not the best season of Arrow but overall I did find it enjoyable.

The added crossovers with the Flash series made it seem deeper and a bigger world. My main complaint is about the end of the series and the way that Felicity as a character just suddenly changed.

It took away from my enjoyment a bit and cost the series a star because she had been one of my favourite characters up until then.

Overall the action was good. The series long arc with the league of assassins was good and I enjoyed most of the ideas that were tried out, including Ray Palmer becoming the ATOM.

I will be looking forward to the next series, but I hope it can be a bit more consistent than this one was. More like 3. The first series was good and the second series was excellent but this one was quite good.

It didn't seem to have such a clear focus and some of the "issues" seemed contrived and a lot of drama about nothing really. Also it was trying to launch another spin off through this series and really just needs to focus on its own stories much as I like the Flash and may well enjoy the new spin off I want to watch Arrow for Arrow!

If you like the show though obviously I hope it's worth carrying on with and they'll maybe step it up next season fingers crossed Followed this since S:1 and I still love it.

Many have said its not as good as the first 2 but I disagree. S:3 links in well with the recently released The Flash S:1 with several character crossovers and also sets things up nicely for the up and coming Legends Of Tomorrow due to hit TV screens in Still has the compelling plot twists and has a habit of leaving each episode on the proverbial knife edge making it compulsive viewing.

Only question is "how many more people will know Oliver Queen's secret and join team Arrow before the whole world will know'?
